Garage Sale 2025

After unexpectedly having to cancel last year’s sale, the Bow Island & District Health Foundation was able to hold its 32nd“Hospital Garage Sale”. Thanks to fantastic community support, approximately $15,000 (before expenses) was raised for the Scholarship Education and Staff Wellness Funds. Special thanks are extended to:
Bow Island Ag Society for the use of their tables
Bow Island Minor Sports for access to the concession space
Chuck MacLean for operating the tractor and hauling a load of unsold items to the Y-Treasures Thrift Store
Paul Schaufele for hauling a load of unsold items to the Y-Treasures Thrift Store.
Dendron for the delivery and use of the waste bin
Donors for taking the time to sort, pack and deliver items to the arena. Approximately 200 donors contributed to this year's sale - some with boxes, some with trailer loads, but every donation whether big or small contributed to the success of the event and is very much appreciated.
Volunteers - Volunteerism is alive and well in our communities! The sale would not have been a success without the almost 1200 hours volunteer hours spent at the arena.
Shoppers - without the many shoppers waiting for the initial opening of the doors and the steady stream of shoppers after, the sale could not have been a success.
Geldreich Farms for the pallets and use of the pallet jack Island Market for the loan of several shopping carts and providing lunch for the volunteers on Saturday
MacLean Cattle Co. for use of the stock trailer and tractor
Luke Naydiuk, Robin Knibbs and Jason Riddell for organizing and pricing “Man Land!
Students and teachers from Senator Gershaw and St. Michael’s Schools for assisting with the set, up, receiving and distribution of donations, and the post-sale pack-up/clean up.
Town of Bow Island & Recreation Board for the use of the arena
The sale had a slightly different format this year, running Friday evening and all-day Saturday. On Sunday & Monday, other community agencies and groups were invited to browse and take any items which would support their programs.
This fundraiser is the main financial support for the Education and Scholarship Fund so a reminder to anyone planning on entering or continuing their education in a health care related field - scholarship application forms are found under the Education Tab.
