Murals for Continuing Care & Alfred Egan Home

There is a transformation under way for some of the walls at Bow Island Health Centre!
The idea of having some of the walls brightened up with murals was originally presented by the Continuing Care Resident & Family Council who laid the groundwork with local administration to receive approval for the project. The Residents and their families discussed possible scenes to be depicted by the murals and came up with several suggestions that were meaningful to them. Cost estimates were received with plans to utilize the Resident and Family Council activity grant from the Foundation for the project. Unfortunately, the Resident and Family Council was disbanded before the project got under way, but individual family members are still involved to ensure an enhanced and brighter environment for the Continuing Care Residents. The project is now well under way.
The Alfred Egan Home murals have been funded through a generous donation from Apple Drugs. The photo shows the mural on the outside wall adjacent to the main entrance of Alfred Egan Home. There are 3 murals in progress on the hallway walls of the Continuing Care wing of Bow Island Health Centre with one more mural to be done in the communal dining area.
Stay tuned - we will bring more updates as the project continues!
